Early Years Network events
9th - 23th March
Various Locations
The Scottish Government and COSLA will be hosting a series of roadshows across Scotland in March of this year on implementing the Early Years Framework.
The Early Years Framework, which was launched in December 2008, has been highlighted by Ministers as one of the key policies required to be reflected in Single Outcome Agreements, along with Equally Well, the health inequalities framework and Achieving our Potential, the anti-poverty framework. Ministers are clear that the early years agenda has to be taken forward in a cross-sectoral, multi-agency way, using the Getting it Right for Every Child methodology.
The roadshows will mark a year of Early Years Framework implementation and will allow participants to take stock of where we are both locally and nationally in the implementation journey; to share good implementation practice and practical experience; to identify challenges and to start to identify solutions to these. The roadshows are designed to provide middle managers, planners and budget decision makers within Community Planning Partnerships with the support they need in taking the early years framework forward.
The roadshows, which will be free of charge, will be full day events and held on the following dates:
- 9 March 2010 – Glasgow
- 11 March 2010 - Stirling
- 18 March 2010 – Dundee
- 23 March 2010 – Inverness
The emphasis of the day will be on interaction and learning, with workshops and presentations covering:
- The evidence for early intervention in the early years;
- Getting it Right for Every Child – the methodology for implementation;
- Data and indicators and measurement;
- Leading change/equipping the workforce;
- Practical experience of taking forward change in the early years.
It is anticipated that the implementation of the Early Years Framework will be taken forward at Community Planning Partnership level, and will involve the engagement of all partners. A formal invitation to attend will be sent out soon to the managers of Community Planning Partnerships and will offer a number of places at the roadshows. The Scottish Government and COSLA would like to encourage a cross section of attendees therefore if you are interested in attending please contact your Community Planning Partnership manager.
