Employability & Tackling Poverty Learning Network

The Employability & Tackling Poverty Learning Network (ETPLN) gives practical help and support to organisations and individuals working locally throughout Scotland.  In particular we work with local employability and tackling poverty partnerships and wider partners, to improve the way services are delivered and to help strengthen our communities.

Background

The ETPLN was formed by joining the Employability Learning Network (ELN) and the Tackling Poverty element of the Community Regeneration and Tackling Poverty Learning Network (CRTP)

The ELN was developed by members of the National Delivery Group, supported by the Scottish Government.  The CRTP learning network was previously developed and run by the Scottish Government's Scottish Centre for Regeneration.

What we do

We give practical guidance to organisations and individuals working throughout Scotland within the employability and tackling poverty agendas. The network is a place where organisations can interact and share information in order to shape strategic direction within Scotland.

A number of resources are being used to facilitate this including:

  • This dedicated website which has toolkits, ‘how to’ guides, case studies, news items, and policy and research.
  • A monthly e-bulletin which is distributed to a large network of subscribers from public, private and third sector backgrounds. At April 2011 the e-bulletin had 1400 subscribers, with registrations growing each month.
  • An online community forum where ideas and events can be discussed in an open forum

The ETPLN takes a demand-led approach so that it undertakes activity which meets the needs of those trying to deliver on issues within local areas
