1 - Engagement

Services which seek to reach out to and engage with priority clients in their communities.  These are often provided by voluntary organisations or mainstream services (eg social work, housing).  They may try to find ‘hooks’ to engage people (eg attracting parents to events at their children’s school).

There are some well developed intensive processes which aim to contact everyone in a relatively small area through working in shopping centres or on main streets and contacting people door to door (Full Employment Areas). Other engagement approaches use professionals who are in touch with hard to reach clients (eg by working with General Practitioners, Social Workers and Community Development Workers).
