Pregnancy and Maternity Discrimination Working Group

The Pregnancy and Maternity Discrimination Working Group is chaired by the Minister for Employability and Training and meets on a quarterly basis; meetings have
been held since December 2016.
The remit of the group includes developing governance;
reviewing and enhancing guidelines; ensuring employers, in particularly small
to medium sized businesses, have more access to advice; and strengthening the
advice pregnant women receive through NHS channels.

The establishment of the group follows Equality and Human
Rights Commission (EHRC) research published in 2016 https://www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/managing-pregnancy-and-maternity-workplace/pregnancy-and-maternity-discrimination-research-findings.
