Employer Engagement

Having accurate and up-to-date knowledge of the labour market is important

A demand-led approach in employability is one driven by a clear and highly responsive sense of employers' needs

In late 2013 representatives from a range of Local Authorities, Skills Development Scotland and DWP came together to identify ways in which the public sector could develop a better coordinated approach to employer engagement.

The public sector has a key role to play in enhancing the local jobs supply and it is likely that public sector employers, including local authorities and the health service, can provide a range of jobs which are both realistic and appealing destinations for priority clients.

Employer Engagement is a key priority across all areas in Scotland, in a variety of different contexts, and encompasses issues such as how we tailor the 'offer' to and the 'ask' of employers both nationally and locally
