People with learning disabilities should be offered the same rights as other people, including the opportunity to earn a living wage, develop friendships and have wider choices in their lives. Too often people with learning disabilities experience poverty, exclusion and dependency on specialist service provision. Employment can offer an alternative, more inclusive lifestyle.
