Including Community Benefit Clauses within Procurement (April 2011) - E

Lessons so far: Embedding an Outcomes Approach in Tackling Poverty and Regeneration (March 2011)
Over the past year, the Tackling Poverty Learning Network and the Improvement Service have been working on a project that aims to help partnerships embed an 'outcomes approach' in their local regeneration and poverty work. This workshop summarised the key points of learning gained from the hands-on work that has been carried out with five local partnerships. It facilitated the exchange of materials and good practice gathered through the project. You can view the presentations and handouts from the event here.
Outcome Focused Working in a Local Context (March 2011) - TP
This workshop explored the range of issues concerning how outcome-focused working can be implemented effectively within a local context. It drew upon early experience of developing a locally focused outcomes approach in the Levenmouth area of Fife. Paricipants were able to hear feedback from those directly involved and discuss the barriers to be overcome and how these are being addressed. You can view the presentations and handouts from the event here.
Poverty Sensitive Decision Making and Budgeting (March 2011) - TP
The challenge we face is more than balancing the books; this workshop took the premise that the projected impact on tackling poverty should be at the heart of service planning in Scotland. Participants considered the prospects for poverty-informed decision making which challenges service providers to explicitly consider the needs of the most disadvantaged and most vulnerable as well as the impact of decisions on reducing poverty. You can view the presentations and handouts from the event here.
Outcome Focused Partnership Working (February 2011) - TP
The public sector needs to focus on the achievement of priority outcomes, delivered in more innovative and cost effective ways. Central to this is the need to re-assess traditional approaches to partnership working. At best, partnership working is a means to an end and it can no longer just be seen as the default response. In short, the public sector now needs to become much more 'hard nosed' about partnership working and what it actually delivers. You can view the presentations and handouts from the event here.
Scottish Strategy to end Child Poverty: Round table discussion (February 2011) - TP
The roundtable was designed to allow an exchange of ideas and experience from across sectors and between individuals. It has a particular focus on local delivery and what is needed within the Scottish Strategy, to ensure that action to meet the overall targets is taken forward and prioritised at a local level and how it can work more effectively in the future. The discussion was introduced with a contribution from Dr Jim McCormick, Scotland Adviser to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. Representatives were invited from a range of organisations and sectors including local authorities, NHS and the third sector. You can view the write up from the event here.
