Ministerial Summit on Employability 2018

On Wednesday 5th December, the Scottish Government hosted its third Ministerial Summit on Employability.  The theme for the day was 'Working in Partnership in Scotland's Future Employability Services'. Jamie Hepburn MSP, Minister for Business, Fair Work and Skills gave the Opening Address and speakers included Councillor Kelly Parry, COSLA spokesperson for Community Wellbeing and Mathew Ainsworth from Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

The Summit brought together a wide range of stakeholders, to share knowledge and learning across the employability landscape in Scotland and to continue to build and develop partnership working for Scotland's future employability services. 

In his address, the Minister announced the outcomes of the recent review of employability services and a new partnership approach between Scottish Government and local authorities to develop employability support which is more flexible, joined-up and responsive to the needs of people who are looking to find work, and to stay in work. The Minister and Councillor Kelly Parry signed a partnership agreement which cements the Scottish Government and COSLA's shared ambition to work towards an employability system which is better aligned and integrated and one which works for everyone throughout Scotland.
