Report: Education at a Glance Interim Report - OECD Update of Employment and Educational Attainment indicators

5 February 2015

The OECD report presents an update on the data in 'Education at a glance 2014: OECD indicators' which covers the structure, finances, and performance of education systems in the OECD's 34 member countries and a number of partner countries, including Brazil and the Russian Federation. The report:

  • Looks at trends in educational attainment, labour market outcomes by attainment and transitions from school to work.
  • Key findings include that:
    • one in six younger adults are qualified to below upper secondary education;
    • that 34% of 55-64 year olds are not educated to upper secondary school level;
    • but the proportion of younger adults with tertiary (post-secondary) education has increased in all OECD countries.
  • Indicates that 83% of young adults with a tertiary education are in employment, whereas this is only 55% for those without an upper secondary school qualification; that 7% of young men with a tertiary education are unemployed and 8% of young women; that among 20-24 year olds, 19% are NEET (not in employment, education or training).

The full report can be found on the OECD website.
