Scottish Mental Health and Employment Network

20 October 2009

The Scottish Mental Health and Employment Network is committed to improving the mental health of Scotland’s population and supporting the recovery of individuals who have experienced mental health improvements in relation to employment.

The Scottish Government provides support to the Network, which aims to raise awareness and disseminate messages about the benefits of employment in relation to mental health - including the role of health and local authorities in promoting best practice.

An event was held on the 16th of September at the Raddisson Hotel in Glasgow to redefine the purpose of the Network, gain new membership and discuss emerging themes arising from the Perkins Review.

[The Perkins Review is a report which focuses on those with benefits with a mental health condition. It will be launched jointly with the UK Mental Health & Employment Strategy on the 5th of November]

Following on from this event the next meeting of the Network to take forward the mental health and work agenda has been arranged for Tuesday 27th of October in Glasgow.
