Welfare Reform in Scotland

The UK Government published a Welfare Reform Bill  in February 2011 following on from the consultation paper 21st Century Welfare which was published the previous July and a White Paper launched in November 2010.

Although reform of welfare benefits is a reserved matter for UK Parliament, some measures impact on devolved services such as Health, Social Care and Housing delivered by the Scottish Government and local authorities.

The Scottish Government is working to understand these impacts and the consequences of welfare reform for groups, individuals and communities across Scotland.  An Analytical Note has been produced providing a baseline for future analysis and also to highlight where the impact of the reforms may be different in Scotland compared to the rest of Great Britain.

You can also see an overview of the analytical work completed so far.
