What are Work Clubs?

16 August 2010

Work Clubs will form part of the Department for Work and Pension's offer of support to unemployed people from next year.

A starting point for information on how Work Clubs happen can be found in the Job Club start up guide that was published by the Conservatives, pre election, as part of their 'Get Britain Working' campaign.

The delivery models adopted by existing Job Clubs vary enormously and support is intended to address the needs of specific communities.

A number of Job Clubs were set up following this model, many taking their lead from a conservative MP or parliamentary candidate (e.g. Banbury/Bicester, Warrington).

Other similar support exists around the country as well and there is a database dedicated to Job Clubs located at www.gbjobclubs.org.
