Fair Work First Evaluation – Invitation to Participate

05 January 2026

Fair Work First is the Scottish Government’s flagship policy for driving high quality and fair work and workforce diversity across the labour market in Scotland by applying Fair Work First criteria to grants, other funding and public contracts being awarded by and across the public sector, where it is relevant and proportionate to do so.

The Scottish Government has commissioned independent research firm Pye Tait Consulting to evaluate how well Fair Work First has been implemented to date, and how well it is achieving its intended outcomes. This will help to identify what is working well/less well, any lessons that can be learned, and to inform the future of Fair Work First policy.

If you are an employer that has been awarded a grant and/or contract from a public body in Scotland or the Scottish Government, please have your say on Fair Work First.

The employer online survey is available here:

https://www.pyetait.com/fwf-employers

A survey aimed at members of your workforce is also available here:

https://www.pyetait.com/fwf-workers

All responses will go straight to Pye Tait Consulting and views will be treated confidentially and reported anonymously to the Scottish Government. The surveys should take no more than 20 minutes to complete and will remain open until 23rd January 2026. Thank you in advance – your support in helping us to reach employers and workers is hugely important for this evaluation and greatly appreciated. If you have any queries, further information and contact points can be found via the survey landing pages. You can also obtain further information via the Fair Work First Evaluation Online Hub.
