First Scottish Employability Day

Business and Fair Work Minister Tom Arthur visited Edinburgh Waverley station to mark the first Scottish Employability Day and meet people helped back into work through the Scottish Government’s No One Left Behind funding.

The Minister heard directly how support from the No One Left Behind funded employability services helped them overcome barriers and move into sustainable employment.

The visit also provided insight into the employer's experience of recruiting through employability services and the benefits and value this approach has brought to their business.

Mr Arthur said: "The first Scottish Employability Day on 10 September is an opportunity to celebrate the collective effort of partners across the public, third and private sector helping people build skills, increase confidence, access opportunities and progress towards fair and sustainable employment.

“Supported by Scottish Government investment of up to £90 million in devolved employability services in 2026/27, through No One Left Behind more than 111,000 people have received employability support, with at least 86,700 positive outcomes achieved between April 2019 to March 2026. I encourage everyone to find out more about the support available in their local area and join us in celebrating Scottish Employability Day."
